About OPIC

The largest conference of OPTICS and PHOTONICS in Japan and one of the largest and most prestigious events in the field worldwide.
The objective of OPIC2019 is to discuss the future of our society which will be realized by optics and photonics, based on the most updated knowledge and technologies worldwide, presented at OPIC2019 and OPIE’19 (OPTICS and PHOTONICS International Exhibition 2019).

OPIC was launched in April 2012 at Pacifico Yokohama, and is the only annual optics and photonics international congress in Japan held under close cooperation between academia and industry. OPIC2019 is the 8th Congress, comprised of Specialized International Conferences, covering a broad range of fields which are all very active at present.

The number of the Specialized International conferences held within OPIC, as well as the number of the participants, have been increasing each year since the start of OPIC. Most recently, OPIC2018 was held with 14 Specialized International Conferences, that is the largest number since the beginning of OPIC, and nearly 1,200 participants from 47 countries.

In OPIC2019 one new Specialized International Conference will join, covering even broader and very active fields in optics and photonics. OPIC2019 will promote exchanges among the academia and the industry. Presentation from industry is planned at the Plenary Session of OPIC2019, showing the most updated state of real world applications of optics and photonics. Following the previous OPIC traditions, OPIC2019 will further deepen the linkage with the co-located OPTICS & PHOTONICS International Exhibition (OPIE’19) with various approaches.
