About OPIC
OPIC, OPTICS & PHOTONICS International Congress, is the largest conference of optics and photonics in Japan and one of the largest and most prestigious events in the field worldwide.
The objective of the 2020 OPIC and OPIE, OPTICS and PHOTONICS International Exhibition, is to discuss the future role of optics and photonics in our society, based on the most current research and latest technologies worldwide.
OPIC was launched in April 2012 at Pacifico Yokohama, and is the only annual optics and photonics international congress in Japan with a focus on building and encouraging relationships between academia and industry. OPIC2020, in its ninth year, is comprised of specialized international conferences that cover a broad range of fields in the study and advancement of light-based technologies.
The number of the conferences at OPIC, as well as the number of the participants, have been increasing each year. In 2019, OPIC consisted of 14 conferences, and over 1,200 participants from 45 countries—the largest number of conferences and participants since the inception of OPIC in 2012.
In 2020, three conferences will return and cover an even broader range of topics and fields. OPIC will continue to promote exchanges between academia and industry, and will include presentations from industry at the Plenary Session that will showcase the most up-to-date, real world applications of optics and photonics technologies. Continuing with tradition, OPIC will further strengthen and deepen the relationship with the co-located OPIE, the OPTICS & PHOTONICS International Exhibition.
